VoiceNation Alternatives 2026: Moneypenny and 6 Live Services
Published . Updated . Prices checked October 12, 2026.

Key takeaways
- VoiceNation now sells under Moneypenny. Its live plan costs $613 for 100 three-minute calls (checked October 12, 2026).
- At 100 calls, ReceptionHQ ReceptionistPlus costs $260 in the table, before transfer and after-hours charges.
- Moneypenny's terms require a full calendar month of notice by phone and collect the first and last month plus an unpublished setup fee.
- Former VoiceNation customers should check their signed terms: Moneypenny's terms page separates them from Moneypenny customers who joined before April 2025.
VoiceNation is now Moneypenny: its live answering costs $613 for 100 three-minute calls a month on the cheapest published plan for that volume (prices checked October 12, 2026). Six other live services below use the same call volume. The old VoiceNation pricing address redirects to Moneypenny; it does not offer a separate current plan.
VoiceNation is now Moneypenny: what does it cost?
Moneypenny announced on February 24, 2025 that VoiceNation had joined its single brand. The old VoiceNation pricing address redirected to Moneypenny's US pricing page when checked October 7, 2026. The current phone answering terms still identify the contracting company as VoiceNation LLC doing business as Moneypenny (read October 7, 2026). Moneypenny is the benchmark here, not another alternative.
Moneypenny live answering starts at $165/month (50 minutes). At 50, 100 and 200 three-minute calls a month, its cheapest published plans cost $371, $613 and $1,152 before fees or extra billable work. The Moneypenny and VoiceNation pricing guide lists every current plan and its billing rules.
Prices checked against each vendor's own pricing page on October 12, 2026.

Our arithmetic: each service's cheapest published plan for the stated call volume plus published overage, with 3 minutes per call. The table excludes setup fees, taxes, pass-through charges, add-ons and minutes beyond the assumed call length. How we price.
ReceptionHQ ReceptionistPlus costs least among the six alternatives at 50, 100 and 200 three-minute calls on the published plan charges. It bills by the call; Moneypenny bills by the minute. ReceptionHQ can charge more for transfers and after-hours calls, so the table is not a quote for every call mix.
What each VoiceNation alternative does better and worse
ReceptionHQ ReceptionistPlus: per-call billing with limits
At 100 three-minute calls, ReceptionHQ ReceptionistPlus costs $260 against Moneypenny's $613 in published plan charges. A longer call does not consume more of ReceptionistPlus's call allowance. This plan permits a live transfer, unlike ReceptionHQ's narrower MessageExpress service.
The plan captures up to five caller details, then charges separately for transfers and calls outside its specified answering hours. Its terms also permit moving an account with excessive call duration to a per-minute subscription (read October 7, 2026). A caller who leaves no message may still count. See the ReceptionHQ pricing guide for those charges before treating a per-call figure as a final bill.
Go Answer: second-level billing, disputed setup terms
Go Answer costs $345 at 100 three-minute calls, below Moneypenny's $613. Its terms say service is billed in one-second increments, while Moneypenny rounds after adding wrap-up and dispatch time (both read October 7, 2026). Go Answer also says obvious spam and robocalls are not charged on its live pricing page.
Go Answer bills summary and disconnection time after a call, according to its FAQ. Its pricing page says there is no setup fee, but the terms provide for one and the FAQ says a new customer pays one (all read October 7, 2026). Get the activation charge and written cancellation rule on the order before switching. Its pricing guide lays out the conflicting language.
AnswerConnect: lower plan charge, longer minimum
AnswerConnect's published plans cost $395 at 100 three-minute calls, below Moneypenny's $613. The service lists live transfers and round-the-clock answering on its service page (read October 7, 2026).
Its terms require a 90-day minimum and round each partial minute up to a whole minute; after-call work also consumes minutes (read October 7, 2026). Moneypenny's month-to-month plan may suit a buyer who does not want that initial minimum, even though its notice rule can add a month. AnswerConnect pricing lists its setup and add-on terms.
MAP Communications: lower plan charge, more fee lines
MAP costs $403 at 100 three-minute calls, below Moneypenny's $613. Its pricing page includes English and Spanish answering and a toll-free number on every shown plan (read October 5, 2026). At 50 calls MAP costs $211.50, below Go Answer's $262.50; at 100 calls their order reverses.
MAP's terms bill after-call work without a stated cap and list telecom, technology, compliance and holiday fees (read October 7, 2026). Its written notice must arrive one month before the next invoice date. MAP pricing explains the fee schedule and its different rounding rule.
PATLive: post-call time excluded, short-call minimum
PATLive costs $479 at 100 three-minute calls, below Moneypenny's $613. PATLive's terms say its meter stops when the receptionist disconnects and does not count later time (read October 7, 2026). Moneypenny adds wrap-up time before rounding.
The same PATLive terms set a one-minute minimum for each call, so very short calls can consume more allowance than their conversation time. The live trial requires a card and converts automatically unless cancelled (terms, read October 7, 2026). PATLive pricing shows the plan math and cancellation language.
Ruby: call tools, higher plan charge
Ruby's help center says calls placed from its mobile app do not use receptionist minutes (read October 7, 2026). Its optional robocall filter blocks those calls before a live receptionist handles them (filter article, read October 7, 2026). Those may matter if your staff calls out frequently or your number attracts robocalls.
Ruby costs $1,160 at 100 three-minute calls, above Moneypenny's $613. Ruby's terms also round each call up to a full minute and count hold and after-call work (read October 7, 2026). A lower entry allowance is not a lower bill for this call volume.
When staying with Moneypenny makes sense
Moneypenny's current live plans include English and Spanish answering, CRM integrations and the dashboard. Its phone answering page says round-the-clock coverage is included without an after-hours charge (read October 7, 2026). ReceptionHQ ReceptionistPlus, by contrast, charges for calls outside its weekday window. If those calls dominate, ask both vendors to price your actual schedule, including transfer attempts and wrap-up.
Moneypenny also costs $613 against Ruby's $1,160 at 100 three-minute calls. If your current scripts and integrations work, compare the full next billing cycle before moving. The published plan comparison cannot value the time needed to rebuild those settings.
Which alternative fits which call pattern?
- Long, predictable call volume: ReceptionHQ ReceptionistPlus is the least costly alternative in this table at 50, 100 and 200 three-minute calls on plan charges. Check its limit on caller details, fair-use rule and after-hours fees.
- Calls that vary in length: Go Answer counts seconds rather than rounding each call to a larger increment. At 100 three-minute calls its published plan charge is $345. Ask how much summary time follows each call.
- English and Spanish coverage: MAP includes both on the shown plans. At 100 three-minute calls its published plan charge is $403. Obtain its additional fee schedule before choosing it on price alone.
- Short minimum commitment: PATLive is month-to-month in its terms, while AnswerConnect sets a 90-day minimum. Its published 100-call charge is $479. Check the trial conversion and short-call minimum.
How to leave VoiceNation or Moneypenny without losing calls
- Identify your signed contract. Moneypenny's terms page separates Phone Answering for former VoiceNation customers and Moneypenny customers who joined after April 2025 from Virtual Receptionist terms for earlier Moneypenny customers (read October 7, 2026). The online terms may differ from what you signed. Ask which agreement governs your account.
- Ask for the final service date. The current Phone Answering terms PDF requires one full calendar month of notice by phone. It says cancellation after the first day of a month can leave another full month payable (read October 7, 2026). The archived VoiceNation terms allowed cancellation through the online dashboard and by mail, email, fax or phone (April 2025 archive, read October 7, 2026). Record the conversation and request written confirmation of the last bill.
- Check who controls the number. The current terms authorize a number for service but do not promise you can keep a number assigned by Moneypenny after cancellation. If it is your business number, confirm ownership and porting instructions before ending forwarding. Do not cancel the old route until the new provider has tested it.
- Test the replacement. Send calls from an outside phone for new customers, repeat callers, transfers and out-of-hours requests. Confirm where messages arrive and how the service handles a missed transfer.
- Inspect the closing invoice. The current terms treat an invoice as agreed unless you report a discrepancy within seven days of its billing date (phone terms, section 6.13, read October 7, 2026). Check usage and any prepaid balance before that window closes.
Frequently Asked Questions

The current US Phone Answering terms still name VoiceNation LLC as the supplier (Moneypenny announcement, terms page, read October 7, 2026). Older signed agreements may have different terms.
How much is VoiceNation answering service now?
Its current live offering is Moneypenny. The entry plan is $165/month (50 minutes); 100 three-minute calls cost $613 on the cheapest published plan for that volume, before extra billable work and setup (prices checked October 12, 2026).
Which VoiceNation alternatives cost less?
At 100 three-minute calls, ReceptionHQ ReceptionistPlus costs $260, Go Answer $345, AnswerConnect $395, MAP Communications $403 and PATLive $479. Each has a lower published plan charge than Moneypenny at $613. Fees and the work each service counts can change your invoice.
Does VoiceNation still offer its old free trial?
The archived VoiceNation terms described a seven-day trial (read October 7, 2026). The current Moneypenny US site does not advertise one. Compare current free-trial terms before submitting a card.
Can I cancel Moneypenny online like the old VoiceNation service?
The current Phone Answering terms say cancellation is by phone and requires a full calendar month of notice. The archived VoiceNation terms allowed an online dashboard and other written channels. Check your signed agreement and confirm the effective date with Moneypenny (both read October 7, 2026).
Is Moneypenny AI a live VoiceNation alternative?
No. It is a separate per-call AI product. Its terms require an active Phone Answering plan for escalation to Moneypenny's human team (read October 7, 2026). The live versus AI price comparison shows the different billing units.
How these prices were read
Every price on this page was read from the vendor's own pricing page, on the date in its Source cell, and saved as a dated capture. Monthly plans use the cheapest published plan plus overage at 3-minute calls. AnswerAmerica shows the least upfront prepaid credit purchase covering that call volume; unused credits roll over. Vendors that hide prices stay in the tables as quote only. We do not test answering quality and publish no ratings.

Changes to these prices
- AnswerConnect and LEX Reception priced from their own /plans-direct pages, including setup fees and larger plans. PATLive added its 2,000 to 5,000-minute tiers. AnswerAmerica added with exact prepaid credit packages; comparison costs show the least upfront package purchase covering the call volume, with unused credits rolling over. Its terms charge wrong numbers and hangups, contrary to its price page. ReceptionHQ MessageExpress named in full. Specialty Answering Service cancellation summary and setup-fee summaries corrected. AI product terms added for Go Answer, Moneypenny and Smith.ai. The initial AnswerForce text capture appeared to stop at 1,000 minutes; the larger plans were later found in saved page JavaScript.
- Published plans that were on pages already read but missing here. ReceptionHQ ReceptionistPlus added as its own live row (messages and call transfers, no scope note; read October 5, 2026): from $35 a month plus $2.99 a call to $2,440 for 1,000 calls, from its ReceptionistPlus page and the price table in ReceptionHQ's terms (read October 7, 2026), with its own billing terms ($0.30 a call after hours, $0.30 per transfer). Specialty Answering Service: 2,500, 5,000 and 10,000 minutes ($2,929, $5,649 and $10,599, overage $1.19 to $1.09 a minute) from its pricing page (read October 5, 2026), and hold time added to what its per-minute billing covers, from its rates page (read October 7, 2026). Go Answer: 1,700, 2,500, 5,000 and 10,000 minutes ($1,870, $2,750, $5,500 and $11,000, overage $1.40 and $1.25 a minute) from its pricing page (read October 5, 2026). Ruby: 1,500, 2,000 and 2,500 minutes ($4,945, $6,400 and $7,875, overage $3.50 to $3.30 a minute) from its help center (read October 7, 2026).
- Plans and rates that were on the captured pages but missing here: My AI Front Desk overage $0.25 a minute (25 credits at $0.01), Go Answer 750 minutes ($825), AnswerForce 800 minutes ($1,069), ReceptionHQ MessageExpress 400 and 500 calls ($610 and $725), and ReceptionHQ's $0.20 after-hours surcharge per MessageExpress call.
- Billing terms added for 18 providers from their terms, FAQ and help pages (read October 7, 2026): billing unit, rounding, time billed beyond the call, spam billing, setup fee, contract and trial. Alert Communications added (law firms only, kept out of the ranges). AnswerForce prices added from its /plans-direct page (Intro $349 for 200 minutes, Best value $389 for 300). VoiceNation now redirects to Moneypenny.
- Ruby: overage rates added from its help center ($5.40/min on the 50-minute plan down to $3.65 on 1,000 minutes), plus the 350, 750 and 1,000 minute plans published there. Ruby's pricing page still shows no overage rate. Abby Professional overage corrected to $2.99 per Abby Minute (its terms and help center), from $3.00 computed as price divided by minutes.
- Sameday AI added (home services only, read October 5, 2026): Launch from $449/month with 500 minutes, Scale from $789/month with 1,000 minutes. Like Slang.ai, it is listed but kept out of the category ranges because it serves one vertical.
- First edition: 30 providers read from their own pricing pages. AnswerConnect, AnswerForce, LEX Reception, Answering Legal and Nexa ask for a form or a sales call before showing a price, so they are listed as quote only. VoiceNation publishes the same plan table as Moneypenny (US), so that table is listed once, under Moneypenny.
