Moneypenny starts at $165/month (50 minutes); 100 three-minute calls a month cost $613 on the cheapest published plan for that volume (checked October 12, 2026). The old voicenation.com pricing URL redirects to Moneypenny's US pricing page (checked October 7, 2026). Moneypenny announced the brand merger on February 24, 2025. Its current US phone answering terms define the supplier as "VoiceNation LLC dba 'Moneypenny'" (terms PDF, read October 7, 2026). The ownership map follows the brands and contracting entities.
What Moneypenny costs at 50, 100 and 200 calls
| Calls a month | Monthly cost | Per call | Per year |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 | $371 | $7.42 a call | $4,452 |
| 100 | $613 | $6.13 a call | $7,356 |
| 200 | $1,152 | $5.76 a call | $13,824 |
Our arithmetic: the cheapest published plan for each volume plus published overage, with 3-minute calls. The calculation excludes setup fees, taxes, pass-throughs and extra billable work after the conversation. How we price.
At 100 calls, the three-minute assumption uses 300 minutes. The index selects the 200-minute plan plus overage for $613; the larger published plan is $985/month for 500 minutes. At 200 calls the index selects the 500-minute plan plus overage. These calculations assume exactly three billable minutes per call; Moneypenny's wrap-up and dispatch rules can use more minutes.

How Moneypenny counts a minute
- Billing unit: Per minute
- Rounding: 30 seconds per call, rounded up after adding wrap-up and dispatch time
- Billed beyond talk time: Wrap-up up to 180 seconds per call, transfer dial-out, every dispatch leg; queue time not billed
- Spam and wrong numbers: No exclusion published (number blocking on request)
The current terms add operator, wrap-up and dispatch time, then round each call to the next 30 seconds. Their example says a 62-second call followed by eight seconds of wrap-up bills as 90 seconds (phone answering terms, section 7, read October 7, 2026). The terms cap billable wrap-up at 180 seconds per call. Time waiting in queue before an operator answers is excluded, while transfer dial-out and every dispatch attempt count.
There is no published spam-billing exception in those terms. Moneypenny says it can block spam and sales callers at the customer's direction (phone answering service, read October 7, 2026). Ask how a wrong number or robocall that reaches an operator appears on the invoice before assuming it is free.
The old VoiceNation rule differs. Its archived terms rounded billable time shorter than 15 seconds up to 15 seconds (VoiceNation terms, April 2025 archive, read October 7, 2026). That sentence is absent from the current Moneypenny terms, which round each call to a 30-second increment after adding wrap-up and dispatch. Former VoiceNation customers should check their signed agreement against the current online version.
Fees, cancellation and the AI plan
- Setup fee: Non-refundable, amount not published; first and last month paid up front
- Contract: Month-to-month; one full calendar month notice by phone
- Trial: None on the current site
The phone terms require "first and last month's service plus any options and initial setup fee" before an order is processed, and say setup and activation fees are nonrefundable (section 6.1, read October 7, 2026). The setup amount is not shown on the pricing page. The same terms allow a security deposit and pass through long-distance, regulatory and government charges without publishing a fixed amount.
The pricing page says "30 days' notice needed to cancel, effective from your next billing date" (people pricing, read October 5, 2026). The phone terms require one full calendar month of notice by phone and say cancellation after the first calendar day can leave another full month payable (section 4.1, read October 7, 2026). Get the last bill date in writing before switching. The broader month-to-month comparison sets that rule beside other vendors' notice periods.
Moneypenny also sells an AI Receptionist billed per call, on a separate AI pricing page. It starts at $69/month (25 calls), while 100 calls cost $199 (read October 12, 2026). The AI terms say human escalation to Moneypenny's team requires "an active Phone Answering Service plan alongside the AI Receptionist Service" (AI terms, section 3.5, read October 7, 2026). The AI plan on its own is not a live receptionist plan. Live versus AI pricing compares both service types at the same call volume.
| AI plan | Price and allowance | Past the allowance | The math |
|---|---|---|---|
| 25 calls | $69/month for 25 calls | $2.49 a call | $69 ÷ 25 calls = $2.76/call |
| 50 calls | $99/month for 50 calls | $2.39 a call | $99 ÷ 50 calls = $1.98/call |
| 100 calls | $199/month for 100 calls | $2.19 a call | $199 ÷ 100 calls = $1.99/call |
| 250 calls | $435/month for 250 calls | $1.89 a call | $435 ÷ 250 calls = $1.74/call |
Source: moneypenny.com/us/plans-pricing-ai, read Oct 12, 2026. Those are per-call plans, so the three-minute call length does not set the AI plan charge. The AI terms say a silent call is not charged, while a call with registered noise is chargeable (AI terms, section 9.2, read October 7, 2026).
The catch before signing
- The checkout cost is not the entry price. The terms collect the first and last month plus an unpublished setup fee, and may require a security deposit. Ask for the total due before activation.
- The meter runs beyond conversation time. Wrap-up, transfer dial-out and dispatch attempts are billable. Ask Moneypenny to price your typical call with the tasks it performs afterward.
- Cancellation follows a calendar rule. A full calendar month of notice can be longer in practice than the pricing page's 30-day wording. Confirm the effective date by phone and in writing.
- VoiceNation is the same current offer. A page quoting an old VoiceNation plan does not describe a plan available at the redirected pricing URL. The current Moneypenny plan table is the one to use.
- The AI price covers a different service. Its human escalation requires a live plan, so compare the combined agreement if that is why you are considering AI.
When Moneypenny fits
The live cards include bilingual answering and 24/7 coverage, and Moneypenny says the latter carries no separate after-hours charge (phone answering service, read October 7, 2026). Its bilingual page says English and Spanish answering has no separate surcharge (bilingual service, read October 7, 2026). That suits a business needing those features on one plan, provided the quoted setup payment and billable after-call work still fit its budget. The vendor lists CRM integrations, but a Clio integration guide says a suitable Zapier account is needed (read October 7, 2026). Check the path for the tool you actually use.

Our arithmetic: the same 100 three-minute calls, each vendor's cheapest published plan and overage. Setup, pass-through and other unpriced fees are excluded. How we price.
At this volume, Go Answer, AnswerConnect, MAP and PATLive each cost less than Moneypenny on published plan charges. The table does not make their services identical: Go Answer bills in one-second increments but includes summary and disconnection time; AnswerConnect rounds to a whole minute and has a minimum term; MAP bills after-call work without a published cap; PATLive sets a one-minute minimum. Read their pricing pages and the VoiceNation alternatives comparison before choosing a replacement.

How these prices were read
Every price on this page was read from the vendor's own pricing page, on the date in its Source cell, and saved as a dated capture. Monthly plans use the cheapest published plan plus overage at 3-minute calls. AnswerAmerica shows the least upfront prepaid credit purchase covering that call volume; unused credits roll over. Vendors that hide prices stay in the tables as quote only. We do not test answering quality and publish no ratings.

Changes to these prices
- AnswerConnect and LEX Reception priced from their own /plans-direct pages, including setup fees and larger plans. PATLive added its 2,000 to 5,000-minute tiers. AnswerAmerica added with exact prepaid credit packages; comparison costs show the least upfront package purchase covering the call volume, with unused credits rolling over. Its terms charge wrong numbers and hangups, contrary to its price page. ReceptionHQ MessageExpress named in full. Specialty Answering Service cancellation summary and setup-fee summaries corrected. AI product terms added for Go Answer, Moneypenny and Smith.ai. The initial AnswerForce text capture appeared to stop at 1,000 minutes; the larger plans were later found in saved page JavaScript.
- Published plans that were on pages already read but missing here. ReceptionHQ ReceptionistPlus added as its own live row (messages and call transfers, no scope note; read October 5, 2026): from $35 a month plus $2.99 a call to $2,440 for 1,000 calls, from its ReceptionistPlus page and the price table in ReceptionHQ's terms (read October 7, 2026), with its own billing terms ($0.30 a call after hours, $0.30 per transfer). ReceptionHQ (MessageExpress, still message-taking only): 150, 250, 350 and 450 calls ($250, $395, $540 and $675) from the same terms table. Specialty Answering Service: 2,500, 5,000 and 10,000 minutes ($2,929, $5,649 and $10,599, overage $1.19 to $1.09 a minute) from its pricing page (read October 5, 2026), and hold time added to what its per-minute billing covers, from its rates page (read October 7, 2026). Go Answer: 1,700, 2,500, 5,000 and 10,000 minutes ($1,870, $2,750, $5,500 and $11,000, overage $1.40 and $1.25 a minute) from its pricing page (read October 5, 2026). Ruby: 1,500, 2,000 and 2,500 minutes ($4,945, $6,400 and $7,875, overage $3.50 to $3.30 a minute) from its help center (read October 7, 2026).
- Plans and rates that were on the captured pages but missing here: My AI Front Desk overage $0.25 a minute (25 credits at $0.01), Go Answer 750 minutes ($825), AnswerForce 800 minutes ($1,069), ReceptionHQ MessageExpress 400 and 500 calls ($610 and $725), and ReceptionHQ's $0.20 after-hours surcharge per MessageExpress call.
- Billing terms added for 18 providers from their terms, FAQ and help pages (read October 7, 2026): billing unit, rounding, time billed beyond the call, spam billing, setup fee, contract and trial. Alert Communications added (law firms only, kept out of the ranges). AnswerForce prices added from its /plans-direct page (Intro $349 for 200 minutes, Best value $389 for 300). VoiceNation now redirects to Moneypenny.
- Sameday AI added (home services only, read October 5, 2026): Launch from $449/month with 500 minutes, Scale from $789/month with 1,000 minutes. Like Slang.ai, it is listed but kept out of the category ranges because it serves one vertical.
- First edition: 30 providers read from their own pricing pages. AnswerConnect, AnswerForce, LEX Reception, Answering Legal and Nexa ask for a form or a sales call before showing a price, so they are listed as quote only. VoiceNation publishes the same plan table as Moneypenny (US), so that table is listed once, under Moneypenny.
