Key takeaways

  • Nexa does not publish monthly prices for its minute plans; its pricing page was checked October 12, 2026.
  • The published plans include 100, 300 or 500 voice minutes, but the monthly fee and overage rate require a quote.
  • The terms permit billable hold, outbound ringing, after-call work and system time, plus a percentage service fee and holiday charges.
  • Nexa may use a billable AI agent unless the customer opts out through the plan or in writing.
  • Nexa acquired Alert Communications. Alert has published prices, but its law-firm service has the same fee and cancellation clauses.

Nexa does not publish a monthly price for its 100, 300 or 500 voice-minute plans (pricing checked October 12, 2026). The pricing page names the allowances but sends buyers to a contact form for a quote. Its terms also allow charges for work beyond the call, a percentage service fee and holiday coverage.

Source: nexa.com/pricing, read Oct 12, 2026. Nexa's pricing page calls the allowances "Voice Minutes" and says additional minutes are charged at the account's base rate, without publishing that rate (read October 5, 2026). The Nexa 300 plan adds intake and inbound or outbound sales to the Nexa 100 features. Nexa 500 adds a CRM integration. The page lists scheduling, lead qualification and custom scripting across all three plans. It does not state whether those features create a separate fee under a particular Service Plan.

Nexa's virtual receptionist cost article says it offers four plans, with the most popular including 300 voice minutes (read October 7, 2026). The current pricing page displays three. That mismatch is a reason to request the full current plan schedule, rather than assume the web table contains every option. Nexa's contact form asks for your company and industry but has no field for call volume, hours or expected minutes (read October 7, 2026). Supply those figures when requesting a quote.

Our arithmetic: the call-volume rows use 3-minute calls and each provider's cheapest published plan for that volume. Nexa publishes no plan fee or overage rate, so its cost cannot be calculated. Taxes, setup fees and add-ons are excluded. How we price.

Those minute totals cover conversation time only. Nexa's contract also counts certain hold, ringing and after-call tasks. A 300-minute package can therefore be exhausted before 100 calls that each last three minutes on the phone. Ask Nexa to price your own recent call log and state whether system time, dispatch and documentation use the same allowance.

The pricing FAQ says its setup fee covers programming, onboarding and training (read October 5, 2026). The amount is absent. Ask for a sample first invoice as well as a steady-month invoice. The hidden fees guide explains how to compare charges that sit outside a base package.

How Nexa counts a minute

  • Billing unit: Per minute (per-event billing allowed)
  • Rounding: Whole minute, rounded up
  • Billed beyond talk time: Hold, outbound ringing, after-call work, "system time" as a percentage of talk time, AI agent time
  • Spam and short calls: Per-call plans may bill robocalls, telemarketing and dead air

The terms say "any partial minutes will be rounded up to the nearest whole minute" (read October 7, 2026). They do not say whether rounding applies separately to each call or to a month's total. They start the meter when a receptionist receives or initiates the call and include hold while waiting for a transfer and outbound ringing. Work after a caller hangs up can also use minutes. The pricing FAQ calls scheduling, email and dispatch work "Receptionist work time" (pricing page, read October 5, 2026). A short call followed by a long dispatch can consume more than the caller's time suggests.

The terms permit "System time" billed as a percentage of work or talk time, with the method set in the Service Plan (terms, read October 7, 2026). This is separate from whole-minute rounding. Get its formula, whether it consumes included minutes and an example using your call length. Nexa also permits event-based plans billed per call, chat, lead or text. The public plan cards show voice minutes, not a rate for those events. Per-minute versus flat-rate pricing lays out the units.

For a per-call Service Plan, the terms reserve the right to bill robocalls, telemarketing and dead-air calls (terms, read October 7, 2026). The public minute-plan terms do not specify a spam exemption, or say what happens to wrong numbers and immediate hang-ups. Have the proposal state which calls are excluded and how to dispute a classified call. See the spam billing comparison for published policies elsewhere.

Fees, contract and trial

  • Setup fee: Non-refundable, amount not published
  • Contract: Month-to-month; written notice one month before the next invoice
  • Trial: None found

Nexa's terms permit a "Service Fee" based on a percentage of the monthly invoice, a telecom and technology fee, training charges, and holiday-related fees for eight named holidays (terms, read October 7, 2026). None has a public amount. The same document permits charges for transfer, additional numbers, reports, portal access and encrypted texts when the Service Plan specifies them. It says credit-card payments incur a surcharge. Request each fee and the billing trigger in the written proposal. Nexa's billing article warns readers about transfer and report charges under "Hidden Levies" (read October 7, 2026); its own agreement permits both.

The default subscription renews monthly unless the Service Plan sets a different term. Cancellation requires written notice at least one month before the next invoice due date; fees are non-refundable (terms, read October 7, 2026). A mid-cycle exit can still incur a whole or partial month's charges. The terms also reserve the right to change rates at any time. Keep the signed plan and ask Nexa to specify the notice, renewal date and fee-change rule.

The same terms say the customer has no property rights in a Nexa-assigned telephone number (read October 7, 2026). Porting treatment is not published. A buyer who needs to keep a known number should forward a number it already controls and confirm the exit procedure before service starts. The contract says customer recordings are retained for no more than 90 days and server data is deleted after termination. Confirm the export format and deadline for any call records you need.

The catch

  1. Round-up is only part of the meter. Nexa charges whole minutes, and its terms include hold, outbound ringing and after-call work. "System time" can be billed as a percentage of work or talk time (terms, read October 7, 2026). Ask for a worked bill using your call log.
  2. The price quote may carry several extra fees. The public plan cards omit prices while the terms permit a percentage service fee, holiday fees, training and telecom fees. The pricing FAQ confirms a setup fee without naming its amount (read October 5, 2026). Compare the total proposal, not only its monthly package.
  3. Holiday answering can have a holiday charge. Nexa says its receptionists cover holidays on its around-the-clock service page (read October 7, 2026). Its terms allow a holiday fee on eight named days (read October 7, 2026). Ask whether the charge applies to each call, minute or day.
  4. An AI agent may answer under a live-service agreement. The terms allow an AI agent to answer and bill its time unless the client opts out in the Service Plan or by written notice (terms, read October 7, 2026). Put the desired human and AI routing in the signed plan and test a forwarded call.
  5. A monthly renewal still requires early written notice. Nexa's default term is monthly, yet written cancellation must reach it at least one month before the next invoice due date. Subscription fees are non-refundable (terms, read October 7, 2026). The month-to-month comparison explains why the notice date matters.

Where Nexa fits

Nexa offers live reception, after-hours coverage, scheduling, dispatch and bilingual English and Spanish answering. Its bilingual service page says Spanish-speaking receptionists are available upon request (read October 7, 2026). Its Voice + AI page describes human-first, AI-first and mixed routing (read October 7, 2026). Those options suit a buyer who wants one vendor to handle several call paths, provided the Service Plan identifies which path answers each type of call and how each is billed. The public pages do not price Spanish coverage or AI use separately.

Nexa's home-services page names emergency dispatch, while its legal page describes intake specialists (both read October 7, 2026). Its integrations page displays software logos, but a logo does not establish whether a connection is native, one-way or managed through an automation platform. Ask for the exact scheduling or intake workflow, then test it during onboarding. See answering service for plumbers and law firm legal intake for the work those calls require.

Nexa states that it acquired Alert Communications (read October 7, 2026). Alert sells a law-firm-focused answering service with published plans. Its terms share Nexa's fee, AI and cancellation language. Comparing the two is useful for a legal buyer, but Alert's public price does not reveal Nexa's quote. A buyer can request both proposals and compare the same call log and contract clauses.

The table uses 100 three-minute calls and each service's cheapest computable published plan. Nexa stays quote only. Alert's calculable row comes from its pay-as-you-go plan; the overage rates on its minute bundles are not published, so the table cannot assume those bundles are cheaper. Alert serves law firms, while the other published options serve a broader set of businesses. Compare the contract and call workflow as well as the price. The Nexa alternatives guide covers more vendors.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Nexa cost per month?

Nexa does not publish the monthly price of its 100, 300 or 500 voice-minute plans. Its site also leaves the overage rate and setup fee amount to a quote. Ask for a written Service Plan that prices your expected call volume and the fees listed in its terms.

Does Nexa charge a setup fee?

Yes. The pricing FAQ says the fee pays for programming, onboarding and training, and the terms say it is non-refundable. Nexa does not publish the amount. Ask for it on the first-invoice estimate.

Is Nexa month to month?

The default contract renews monthly, unless the signed Service Plan sets another term. Nexa requires a written cancellation request at least one month before the next invoice due date, and subscription fees are non-refundable.

Does Nexa charge for spam calls?

Its terms allow charges for robocalls, telemarketing and dead-air calls on per-call Service Plans. They do not publish a separate exemption for the voice-minute plans or a policy for wrong numbers. Ask how each call type appears on the invoice.

Does Nexa use AI to answer calls?

It may. Nexa's terms permit an AI agent to answer calls and bill its time unless the customer opts out through the Service Plan or written notice. Its Voice + AI page describes several human and AI routing modes. Specify the mode you want before forwarding your number.

How is a Nexa receptionist different?

Nexa offers live receptionists and several human and AI routing modes, with scheduling, dispatch and intake among its published services. The Service Plan controls which work is included and how it is billed. Its public pricing page names minute allowances without monthly fees, so request a written quote for the workflow you need.

How these prices were read

Every price on this page was read from the vendor's own pricing page, on the date in its Source cell, and saved as a dated capture. Monthly plans use the cheapest published plan plus overage at 3-minute calls. AnswerAmerica shows the least upfront prepaid credit purchase covering that call volume; unused credits roll over. Vendors that hide prices stay in the tables as quote only. We do not test answering quality and publish no ratings.

VoiceNation now redirects to Moneypenny.
  • Sameday AI added (home services only, read October 5, 2026): Launch from $449/month with 500 minutes, Scale from $789/month with 1,000 minutes. Like Slang.ai, it is listed but kept out of the category ranges because it serves one vertical.
  • First edition: 30 providers read from their own pricing pages. AnswerConnect, AnswerForce, LEX Reception, Answering Legal and Nexa ask for a form or a sales call before showing a price, so they are listed as quote only.
